Another kit that was started some months ago, and then sat on the shelf. Like the N1J2-K, this one was pretty much ready for painting when I resumed work on it.

Unlike the N1J2-K, the only solvent-based paint I used was Mr. Base White 1000 for the initial priming. The yellow on the leading edge of the wing was AMMO 0125 Gold Yellow RLM 04. After spraying that, I masked it and applied Auto Bourne Sealer White over the overspray and as a background for the hinomarus. The hinomarus were masked, and then I sprayed Vallejo Metal Color Aluminum 77.701 as the NMF. I thought I had used this before, but could not find a reference to it. It did not spray that well. If I use it again in the future, I will probably add some flow improver to it (assuming I remember to do so). The anti-glare panel and the tail were painted Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black.

Quick Shine was again used as a gloss coat and a decal setting solution. I was pleased with how the decals went on. The yellow on the propellor blades was the AMMO Gold Yellow, hand-painted. It was much easier than applying decals, and looks okay if you don't get too close!

I must admit, I like the look of these fantasy planes.
