Hasegawa 1/48 Nakajima Ki43-II Hayabusa (Oscar) '248th Flight Regiment' (09508)
One of the kits I FUBARed in March was the Fine Molds Oscar. I can't remember exactly what I FUBARed, but after that, I decided to build this Hasegawa Oscar. This the second time I've built this boxing.
For the most part, assembly was painless. I think I did screw up the landing gear a bit, and the cowling does not fit too well onto the fuselage. I chose a subject from Aeromaster 48-011 Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusas. I was going to go with a NMF plane, but I chickened out and went with the simplest camouflage on the sheet. I used Tamiya XF-14 J.A. Grey for the bottom and XF-13 J.A. Green for the top. The decal set did not show an anti-glare panel for this plane, so I didn't paint one. I used the Eduard EX193 mask set, which fit well.
The yellow was XF-3 Flat Yellow, with some XF-7 Flat Red added. It was a bit darker than I planned, but looked OK. I painted the small stripes on the propellor blades. It was easier than trying to apply decals!
