Hasegawa N/A Mikoyan-15 (60132)
There is not much to say about this kit. As with the Meng World War Toons kits, I built this because I wanted something very simple. It also gave me another chance at a NMF.
I used AirBorne Sealer Black as the primer for the NMF. This is a water-based product (I believe) made by Createx. It is supposed to adhere to all surfaces, including plastic (a notorious difficult surface to paint). I had tested it on some scrap plastic, and found the black sealer did adhere well. (Interestingly, I had some problems with the gray sealer adhering.) After spraying the sealer and letting it cure for two days, I sprayed on Gaia EX-07 Silver as the NMF. I had masked the area inside the canopy, since I wanted that to stay black. Unfortunately, my masking wasn't quite right, so I had to touch up the area in front of the canopy. It actually turned out a bit brighter than the rest of the plane.
I used Future as a pre-decal clear coat, applied the kit decals, and then gave it another coat of Future. I then used a mix of Future and Tamiya X-21 Flat Base to dull the surface. The kit comes with two sets of markings, a Soviet one and the one I used. To be honest, I'm not sure what nation it represents, as I am only really familiar with World War II aircraft.
