This is the Hasegawa 1/72 Oscar. I was not pleased with how this kit turned out. It went together well, but my paint job was pretty bad.

I used Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit Green for the cockpit. I realized the moment I sprayed it that it was a Mitsubishi cockpit color, not a Nakajima cockpit color. The main frame was primed with Tamiya X-1 Black. I masked the antiglare panel and the walkway markings on the wings, then sprayed Floquil Bright Silver. It turned out poor - much worse than it looks in the photos. I used Floquil Gun Metal for the wheel wells and the inside of the cowling. It did not have enough of a blue tint. On the plus side, the Floquil Reefer Yellow on the wing edges turned out well. I sprayed it after I painted the rest of the plane.

I used the kit decals. The canopy was masked by hand. After the decals were on, and I had taken a few photos, I realized that I forgot the green mottling. I thinned some Tamiya XF-13 JA Green and applied it with a microbrush. The results were not impressive.

Build completed May, 2013.
